May 8, 2026 – The Jefferson County History Center hosted the 4th grade classes of Redbank Valley Elementary School for their first field trip at Scripture Rocks Park on May 8th of this year. 70 students and their teachers rotated through 5 stations where they learned about the pond pollinator habitat, forestry, the Native American Rockshelter, Tour of the Inscribed Rocks, and an Activity/Lunch station.
The stations were presented by the following:
- Dale Luthringer, DCNR Education Specialist, Forestry;
- Dana Hannibel and Megan Whitlatch of the Jefferson Co. Conservation District, the Pond Pollinator Habitat;
- JCHS Board President Larry Anthony and Board Secretary Greg Snyder, Tour of the Rocks;
- JCHS Treasurer Ken Burkett and volunteer Walter Skryzpec, the Native American Rock Shelter;
- and JCHS Executive Director Kat Lyons and JCHC Staff member Amy Powers at the Activity Station:
